Department
[edit]In which of the province's departments does Ouagadougou reside? That seems like a pretty important piece of information to put into the opening paragraph and infobox. If it's more than one, that needs to be made clear. --Criticalthinker (talk) 12:51, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
Vandalism
[edit]I don't normally go beyond quick spelling/grammar fixes. I edited the caption of the main graphic, which read "Ouagadougo has Goats...A lot of them". Perhaps this pag needs to be watched for attacks for a brief period? 5ynic 16:45, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
- Removed mention of goats inhabiting the area in the History section. I also removed the dubious sentence about numerous French, American and Zaka cultural centers. French cultural centers may exist, but the Americans? And Zaka is the name of a village somewhere in Burkina Faso, hardly likely to have a cultural center. Marfinan (talk) 14:07, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
Template
[edit]The images added to the Ouagadougou page overlap the boundaries of each section making it hard to see where one section starts and another ends. The images need to occur within the boundaries of the relevant section. Sorry - don't know how to do this myself, Naomi. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.194.4.65 (talk) 10:59, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
- Fixed this by putting most photos in a table in a new section.

Climate
[edit]copied data from BBC climate info into a table, like the Bamako and Niamey pages. Marfinan (talk) 03:42, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Images
[edit]more images on this article wouldn't hurt. I'd love to be able to provide them, but i don't live there anymore.--Alhutch 07:07, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
Pronunciation
[edit]It's a shame that so many people mispronnounce this capital city. The Blockbuster (and one of my favorite movies) Harry Potter in one of their special features explained about how one of the professors traveled here and there and went to OO-GAH-DOO-Goo. Jammantha LaLapine (logged in on her sister's account Luna'sPatronus 00:14, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
- The name was usually spelt 'Waɡaduɡu' in Anglophone countries before the 1980s. Many non-French speakers are unfamiliar with French orthography. --Ef80 (talk) 13:10, 5 June 2023 (UTC)

I would like to place this infobox in the article to improve the content and look of the article, but I don't want to put it in with a bunch of blank information. If anyone can add the missing information, I would greatly appreciate it. The infobox is copied from the article on Nairobi, Kenya.--Dekkanar 16:57, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
Copyedit
[edit]I've made several changes to the article, focusing mainly on punctuation, grammar, style, cohesion, tone, wording, and spelling, but I believe it still needs the attention of someone with more experience in West Africa than mine to be sure that the historical references in particular are correct. Smallfixer 05:03, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
Vehicles
[edit]"The citizens of Ouagadougou prefer their own motorcycles and bicycles (and more recently, cars) to public transportation. The city's automobiles are generally small and inexpensively made, using a small two-stroke cycle engine."
Two-stroke engines in Automobiles ? What cars are these ? East German ? Eregli bob 00:32, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- I removed it. It must have been a joke. Ouagadougou traffic has as many or more motorcycles and mopeds than cars or trucks. (I Can't source that, its based on personal experience - but you can see it in the photos of the Place des Nations Unis). Maybe the whole section on traffic should be removed?
Marfinan (talk) 12:30, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- I've now sourced it to the French wikipedia page on Ouagadougou. Marfinan (talk) 13:24, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
The Amazing Race
[edit]Ouagadougou features in the current (Nov. 2007) run of the TV series "The Amazing Race." I have no idea if that fact rises to the level of being encyclopedic, but this was the first video I'd ever seen of the city (and what led me to this page.) At least I knew where Burkina Faso is on the map... :-) Can anyone suggest whether this TV appearance belongs in the article or not? Birdbrainscan (talk) 02:42, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
What's an inhabitant of Ouagadougou called?
[edit]- Answer "Ouagalais" now in the article. Marfinan (talk) 12:31, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
Strange map
[edit]What is the map of Eastern Hemisphere in 1200 A.D. doing on the article page? The caption says "Ouagadougou and its neighbours", but I can't see any relevance with the article? —Jopo (talk) 06:53, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

History
[edit]I was just browsing through and I noticed a non-sequitur, in the History section. The text currently says
He then renamed the area from "Kumbee-Tenga", as the Ninsi had called it, to "Wage sabre soba koumbem tenga", meaning "head war chief's village". Ouagadougou is a Francophone spelling of the name.
Well, "Ouagadougou" is clearly not a Francophone spelling of "Wage sabre soba koumbem tenga". It would appear that at least one sentence has been omitted or deleted from this section. I know nothing about the history of Burkina Faso, so I am unable to add the missing sentence. BudgieJane (talk) 17:05, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
