Membership in the NSDAP
[edit]The article doesn't say anything about his membership in the NSDAP, yet links this up as "neo-Nazi". To my knowledge Remer was never a member of the NSDAP. --41.14.199.71 (talk) 20:55, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
Categorisations
[edit]This article was tagged with Category:Syrian Nazis and Category:Egyptian Nazis, however there is nothing in the article that indicates that he held citizenship in either country. I have removed both until a reliable source is produced that shows he was. Peacemaker67 (send... over) 22:30, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
- I have added him to Category:German expatriates in Egypt and Category:German expatriates in Syria (which does not yet exist). He seems to have been an expatriate in those countries and not become a national of either country.John Pack Lambert (talk) 03:16, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
Legacy?
[edit]Is Major Remer treated kindly by history, or is he considered a dubious/scummy person? It doesn't seem very clear from the article how this man should be regarded. Thx. Azx2 04:00, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
The entry should state the historical facts objectively and allow the reader to form he/her own opinion. 2605:E000:CA45:AA00:C59A:8490:D753:F065 (talk) 03:56, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
Strange allegation of post-war alliance of Remer and the USSR
[edit]I question the statement that Remer's post-war neo-Nazi party "received financing from the Soviet Union[1] and worked with the Communist Party of Germany." This seems very unlikely, and the listed sourcing for this claim is marginal. This is the second dubious statement regarding the USSR and major German/Nazi WWII leaders that I have seen in the past 24 hours. The other one is in the entry for July 20 conspirator Carl Friedrich Goerdeler concerning the allegedly left-wing leanings of coup leader Stauffenberg: “Stauffenberg was an ‘Easterner’ who favoured making contacts with the underground KPD, and wished for a post-Nazi Germany to ally herself with the Soviet Union.” Stauffenberg was a conservative German of clear aristocratic lineage—I’ve never heard, and very much doubt, that he was interested in an alliance with the USSR and the German Communist Party.
- Considering that after the war Israel's Mossad successfully recruited Nazis like Otto Skorzeny for various projects, it's really not that hard to believe.
