Cause of daughter's death
[edit]Does anyone know how their daughter, Lady Evelyn Molyneux, died? She died at age 14 and there is no story or explanation anywhere. Help would be greatly appreciated.
A number of years ago, I worked for a while with the archives at Croxteth Hall, the home of the Molynueux family in Liverpool. From my understanding, there was a theory that Lady Evelyn could have suffered from epilepsy?
Lady Sefton's diaries from that time make references to her daughter having an 'illness' although it was never given a name on paper. Epilepsey was considered a shameful thing and aristocratic families, keen to present their bloodline as being untainted usually did all they could to hide the truth from society. Keeping the affected child at home with a goveness was one way of dealing with such a situation.
Hope this is helpful —Preceding unsigned comment added by Verity123 (talk • contribs) 22:35, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
