- It is perfectly valid to use either US or British spelling, but not both together. In this case, the article seems written in US spelling. Another rule is the "major contributor" may choose the spelling, meaning if the article was started in one spelling, it may be kept in that spelling by all means (but may also be changed upon agreement with the starting editor).
