Merge?

[edit]

Magnus Rosborn, I'm wondering if this should be merged into the article Restless Blood as these are different versions of the same film. Could maybe be a sub-section of that article. – Thjarkur (talk) 22:24, 6 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The thing is that the National Audiovisual Institute of Finland treat the two parallel language versions as separate films in their database, see https://elonet.finna.fi/Record/kavi.elonet_elokuva_121622 and https://elonet.finna.fi/Record/kavi.elonet_elokuva_876278 respectively. By doing so you are not saying that one film is superior to the other, but they are both equal works of art. I work myself at the Swedish film archive and earlier we have been inconsistent in how we have cataloged similar parallel recorded language versions - sometimes as separate films and sometimes just as different versions of the same film - but lately we have discussed if we should register such versions as separate film works just as our Finnish colleagues. I can also see that people have not been consistent here on Wikipedia - Victor and Victoria and George and Georgette have each one Wikipedia page while the German and French versions of The Testament of Dr. Mabuse only have one page in common. However, for Finnish films I think it would be proper to follow the official Finnish cataloging and have two separate pages. --Magnus Rosborn (talk) 20:45, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
