Ormoceras species
[edit]The species listed at the bottom of the taxobox, originally added in April 2008, can be linked when pages are ready for submission. Excessive and lingering (blind) red letter links should be avoided JM —Preceding undated comment added 01:38, 15 August 2009 (UTC).
- @J.H.McDonnell:, This is counter to WP:REDYES. Accepted taxa are always notable, and should always be linked even if they are red. Nessie (talk) 02:18, 19 April 2018 (UTC)
- @NessieVL: Actually this type of situation has been discussed by WP:Paleontology, which oversees extinct taxa, and the consensus plus guideline is to write a comprehensive genus article that discusses the species only. In fossil taxa there is very rarely enough distinct information to make more then repetitive stubs at the species level that mostly duplicate whats at the genus article. If there are a large number of species then a "Species of Ormoceras" article is recommended. See Palaeovespa and Gerontoformica for examples.--Kevmin § 12:03, 19 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Kevmin:, Please link to these discussions you reference, I would like to read them, and I imagine others would as well. Nessie (talk) 14:45, 19 April 2018 (UTC)
- Heres the guideline Wikipedia:WikiProject Palaeontology#Single-species articles. Its long established and there is not likely to be enough on any of the Ormoceras species to make more then a substub article of unique information.--Kevmin § 01:10, 20 April 2018 (UTC)
