Geohack

[edit]

from: Jgrantduff re: Orleton WARNINING! ALERT! some non-Wikipedian has tagged a GEO-HACK website to this page. Hackers out there are trying to tag the pages for disrupting messages. They do this by reverse engineering archived messages, and then play back the message later on. This is a Security issue for the website. The protection of individual pages needs to be paramount, so that links can be guaranteed integrity. If the links are corrupted then the chain of events is also. Communication breaks down through misinterpretation of the facts. Guarantee your ID by knowing the fact of your own editing, and then stick to your own knowledge-base. Software improvements need to be installed to prevent Hackers! from stealing information, corrupting data, and defalcating on IDs. Conflicts of Interest are generated by International theft of information and data from legitimate pages. PLEASE FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO THE SOFTWARE ENGINEERS AT WIKIPEDIA! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jgrantduff (talkcontribs) 22:01, 5 January 2016

@Jgrantduff: There is only one geohack link on this article, it is the coordinates link at upper right. Are you talking about that link? If so, this is a standard link that is included in the vast majority of pages about towns, villages and other places. It's not a security issue at all, but if you want to ask about it, what it does and so on, try Template talk:GeoTemplate. --Redrose64 (talk) 22:34, 5 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
