Trivial?
[edit]Much of the content in this article seems rather trivial (that is, although it may be of great significance for current residents, it does not provide the kind of information value one expects from an encyclopedia). For example, I don't believe that a rate schedule for water and sewer service is content that belongs in an encyclopdia, The same things goes for the hours of operation at the library, the existence of a blinking traffic light, the 2008 property tax collections, the village's share of the cost of replacing a bridge, or the apparently complete list of city officials (who amount to more than 1% of the village population).
Any objections to possibly trimming this? --Orlady (talk) 04:14, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Summary of economy (retail)
[edit]I tried to summarize retail establishments as follows:
"The village has a pharmacy, a Family Dollar Store, a hardware store, a supermarket, and a Subway restaurant."
This was deleted as WP:SPAM and trivia. I suggest, instead that this summarizes the economy rather succintly. In keeping with WP:SPAM mentions elsewhere, the businesses that need publicity aren't named. The businesses, for whom this publicity means nothing, are.
University Mall (South Burlington, Vermont) is a stand-alone article. It describes the businesses there succinctly as well. One can infer that South Burlington has, not a huge, but a medium-sized economy from this article. It seems to me provincial WP:BIAS to allow material to be cited from cities, and not from the country, when it is done in an objective fashion.Student7 (talk) 00:38, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Non-notable
[edit]Needs an article so he can be included in notables:
- Kermit Smith - Sergeant-at-Arms, Vermont Legislature 1988-1993(State Of Vermont). He was a state representative and state senator in order to be elected by the legislature to paid position as sergeant-at-arms.I guess it is a senior position in Vermont. Will find out more when article is written. Student7 (talk) 12:30, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
