Militant or terrorist
[edit]I think describing Bosch as a terrorist is accurate. The FBI called CORU "an anti-Castro terrorist umbrella organization." Since the FBI uses the term terrorist, it is justifiable to use it in this article. Griot 13:36, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- The real problem is that the article is not written in an encyclopedic manner. You seem to want all articles about "bad" people to read like, for example Adolf Hitler, "Adolf Hitler (April 20, 1889 – April 30, 1945) was a German murderer and hate monger. He was labeled by Churchill as, "the devil who killed off anyone who opposed him". Under his leadership six million Jews were killed. Documents found show that he was behind the bombing of civilians and ordered the deaths of thousands. He was quoted as saying that, "Jews are at fault and whatever happens to them they deserve."
Now compare that to what it really says. While we might all like to go around and have it read like that, an encyclopedia should not do that. An encyclopedia explains everything in a very bland and neutral tone and lets the actions of people speak for themselves. Just presenting the facts, without calling people names is more than enough to make the point. You don't have to call Hitler an evil bastard, anyone reading it will figure that out for themselves. Fanra 22:15, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Dick Thornbug, the Atty General of the US no less, called him an unrepentant terrorist. We have it from a third party, and an authoritative one at that. Griot 23:30, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
- Dick Thornbug is one opinion. We are free to quote him but he is not God and his opinion is not the final word on anything. Fanra 10:26, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
- The fact is that this article is poorly written. It is not written in an encyclopedic manner. Regardless of your opinion of Bosch, an encyclopedia needs to be neutral. Fanra 10:27, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Pardon
[edit]This says he wasn't pardoned and that he was. No Source says he was so I am removing the part where it says he was pardoned. Jons63 00:09, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
He is my grandfather, and among other inconsistencies in this article, I can assure you that he was, indeed, pardoned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.84.114.109 (talk) 00:59, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
If he was pardoned then please provide a source so we can update the article. Jons63 (talk) 01:02, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- According to official sources, he is not listed as having been pardoned. See The Department of Justice's lists of people pardoned by George H.W. Bush here. He is not on the list. He was charged in Venezuela with the Polish freigher attack, convicted, served a prison term then released. He was later to be deported to Cuba, but Bush released him from INS custody and give him US residency. This is not technically a pardon. It's simply a decision to not deport. The fact is, if the federal Government wanted to go after him (unlikely) for other terrorist activities, they still could. If he had been pardoned, he would be immune from such charges. This is sometimes inaccurately reported as a "pardon" by uninformed members of the media. ++Arx Fortis (talk) 04:15, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Birthdate
[edit]I did a little scrounging, and found this at http://www.freethefive.org/usTerrorism/USTerrBosch62989.htm Passion for Free Cuba Drove Bosch to Extreme, by Heather Dewar June 29, 1989 from The Miami Herald:
- Castro, 26, was the law school's student body president and Bosch, just five days younger, was president of the medical school student body.
Fidel Castro was born August 13 August 1926, so that would put the date of birth of Orlando Bosch at 18 August 1926.
I'll leave this up to the fine folks who have been looking after this article. Kid Bugs (talk) 23:57, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
