[edit]A minor point. Oreste Vaccari's wife, Elisa Enko Vaccari (or Enko Elisa Vaccari) is identified as Japanese in the article, something I myself had assumed to be the case, but in reading The Man Who Saved Kabuki: Faubion Bowers and Theatre Censorship in Occupied Japan by Shiro Okamoto, translated by Samuel L. Leiter, I came across the following reference to her: "though born in Japan, she was a presumably wealthy Italian...." [p. 63] Japanese or Italian? Perhaps a worthy clarification project for some grad student out there.Shosai (talk) 09:29, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
- Mrs Vaccari (Enko san) was definitely Japanese. My father had spent 20+ years working with Mr Oreste Vaccari's dictionary making in Japan and Enko san considered my father as their son, since they never had any of their own. Once a year, she would take us out to a fancy lunch in Tokyo and paid us older kids to go see a movie or stay a night at a fancy hotel - something we could never afford at the time. I remember her as being quite short and well dressed. SariPearce (talk) 13:55, 16 June 2024 (UTC)
