Confusing information, unreliable sources

[edit]

How can there be a differential order of precedence for the three different Order(s) of Merit for the various branches of the armed forces of the Dominican Republic? According to the articles for the Air Force's Order of Air Merit, the Army's Order of Military Merit (Dominican Republic) and the Navy's Order of Naval Merit (Dominican Republic), the Army's is higher than the Air Force's, while the Navy's is higher than both.

This is dramatically different from the US Armed Forces showing the four different Cross awards as being equivalent to each other: the Army's Distinguished Service Cross, the Air Force / Space Force Air Force Cross, the Navy / USMC Navy Cross, and the Coast Guard's Coast Guard Cross. Not saying that they can never be different orders of precedence, but seems unlikely, so need an explanation as to why as the only difference across the Dominican awards appears to be the year when they were created.

Does not help that the cited sources in the articles for the Dominican awards are dead links, one of them a link to an organization that does not come up on any web search - the supposed International Electronic Phaleristic Encyclopedia (IEPE). Furthermore, the archived IEPE citation even states that "No special assertion is offered that these awards are listed in the correct order and all additional information is welcomed." Very confusing information, from unreliable sources.

Perhaps there is some overall believe in Dominican military ranks that some branches are less important, or the actions of their service people less meritorious, than others? If so, this still needs to be explained, with citations, in these articles and the associated article Orders, decorations, and medals of the Dominican Republic. If not, then all these articles are in need of a major adjustment to their "Order of precedence" information. Jmg38 (talk) 01:36, 29 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
