Proposal to merge with Ska

[edit]

I'm proposing that this article be merged with the main article on ska. In its current state this article is basically a fan page glorifying a bunch of '90s OC ska bands and needs a whole lot of work. In fact I prodded it for deletion. However on reconsideration, I think some of the information here, if properly referenced and edited for NPOV, could serve well as a section within the article about ska. --IllaZilla 17:04, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Has the potential to be an article in its own right, but not without a load of work. Agree with merger, can be split in future if necessary. Nouse4aname 15:24, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think that's a fine idea. Once it's cleaned up and fixed in here, it seems wise to merge this with the ska article. The OC ska scene is an integral aspect of ska music history, and that alone justifies this article's existence. This merge discussion has been on the page for nearly 17 months. If someone doesn't take care of it in the next week I am removing the tag (for a second time). Radagast83 (talk) 05:46, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Per this discussion and the AfD, there is a lot of support for merging this article. The tag should remain until someone takes it upon themselves to perform the merge. If you remove it, but don't actually carry out the merge, I'll restore it. --IllaZilla (talk) 06:50, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Reel Big Fish still actively tour and release new material, and are true to their ska punk roots. Other Orange County ska bands such as Suburban Legends formed more recently and continue to tour extensively. " Was added to the article. But needs citations. 1. ^ "'Chase the Supertones' already is the name of the game in the ska-rock genre in general. With its third album, the Mission Viejo band confirms and builds upon its excellent 1997 release, 'The Supertones Strike Back.'...That album's meld of catchy melody, shining playing, and the warm, bracing urgency and heart that singer Matt Morginsky brought to his songs of mature spiritual struggle marked the Supertones as the only Orange County ska band that matters.
