Article rename
[edit]I'd like to rename the article, as it isn't the actual name of the product, which is simply "Sun Studio". That name is already taken on WP, though, so there needs to be disambiguation. I would suggest one of the following:
- Sun Studio (software)
- Sun Studio (development tools)
- Sun Studio compiler suite
The first is the one I think is best: it's short, accurate, it fits the WP disambiguation model and succinctly differentiates this from the Memphis recording company.
The second is a bit longer, although slightly more descriptive. The last would just fix the capitalization in the title, but is again longer and doesn't lend itself to the WP "pipe trick" when adding links into other articles.
The current name "Sun Studio Compiler Suite" would of course still exist as a redirect, so no links or other internal or external references would be lost.--NapoliRoma (talk) 19:12, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
The official unofficial name full name is "Sun Studio compilers and tools". Most people forget that Sun Studio is more than just compilers. It also includes an IDE based on Netbeans, dbx debugger, the performance analyzer and thread analyzer, and the Sun Performance Library. And, that the compilers implement OpenMP. I've added some of this info to the page today, along with links to the documentation. rchrd (talk) 21:04, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Oracle has changed the name to "Oracle Solaris Studio". I suggest the article should be renamed as well. 118.168.119.9 (talk) 12:27, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
Missing information
[edit]The old names (SunSoft Workshop, and SunSoft Forte) and other historical info is missing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Compukid (talk • contribs) 10:47, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Actually, the old names were Sun WorkShop, and Forte Developer. Historical information would be interesting. I'll see if I can pull something together. rchrd (talk) 21:00, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Would be great to have version history as well, (when a version was released, what features were added) Enerjazzer (talk) 01:40, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
