Possible Significant Discovery
[edit]It has been reported that Bulgarian cavers have discovered 50km of previously unmapped passage in Optymistychna. If true, this would raise the length of this cave to 270km making it the second longest known cave in the world. This would put it solidly ahead of Jewel Cave. See [1].
I hesitate to put any mention of this in the article at this time because I don't consider this source reliable. It is most likely true but a better source needs to be found for the information.
Do any others wish to comment on the reliability of this report? Or can anyone else verify it from a better source? WTucker (talk) 02:05, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- I will answer my own question. It appears that the Bulgarian news of this event is highly exaggerated and may even be something of a hoax. See [2]. WTucker (talk) 02:05, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
