iTV Merger Proposal
[edit]Since this service never got past the trial stage some years ago, the Optus ITV article does not appear to be justified. There is also little hope that the article will ever graduate out of stub status.
The bulk of the Optus ITV article as it stands is redundant anyway, describing (and seemingly denouncing) Foxtel Digital. It would make more sense to cover what needs to be covered in the existing section here on the Optus Television page.
I therefore propose that Optus ITV be merged into Optus Television#Optus iTV Trials. -- Rob.au 16:16, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- Merger completed. -- Rob.au 02:40, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
So what are the differences between Optus and FOXTEL?
[edit]I'm just curious, that's all. Mainly, how are Optus and FOXTEL different if they offer basically the same channel lineup? -Daniel Blanchette 21:24, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- Still different companies with different infrastructure. Optus Television provides subscription television over the Optus HFC network. Foxtel provides subscription television over the Telstra cable network and (slightly confusingly) via an Optus satellite. At the front end, although the content is shared and Optus Television now sells its product as Optus TV featuring FOXTEL, the actual packaging and prices are different to those sold by Foxtel. -- Rob.au 18:57, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- There a few channel and packages differences eg TMF is Optus Exclusive at the moment, although the movie channels are tiered to their original service (ie you must purchase Showtime before you can get Movie Network on Foxtel) Reubot 16:12, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
