What is the question?

[edit]

Do all the polls have the same question and if so do you know what it is exactly in Turkish please? Chidgk1 (talk) 17:57, 18 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Issue about suspicious polling results.

[edit]

I don't think it is our place to decide whether a polling result is false or true. Best thing we can do is to declare how the poll was conducted (if it is known) and how and by whom it was published.

For instance, if you check out the USA election polling pages, you see that almost all of the polls are sourced right back to the primary source which is the polling firm. For the case of Turkish elections, we can only make sure to declare it was published by a news firm rather than a polling firm. This applies to multiple polls on this site: all of the Areda Survey results are published by the news firms. Some are only published in aggregate polling Twitter accounts, some from Halk TV, many from Duvar Gazete, etc.

So, instead of deleting polling results. Just state that it is secondary-source. Yanekyuk (talk) 09:53, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am even okay with separating the tables: one of which only from the polling firms, the other is only from the news and personal accounts. Yanekyuk (talk) 09:54, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

polls being deleted for no reason

[edit]

user:leo0502 deleted two polls for no reason other than vaguely claiming that they are fake. There are several polls where some parties get a lot more of the votes in comparison to other polls but as long as the polls are conducted by real firms it is not our job to decide whether or not they are "fake".

I agree it should restored back Shadow4dark (talk) 08:35, 25 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

HUDA PAR on list of AKP

[edit]

@Braganza The reason I removed HUDA PAR from the table is that party decided to run on list of AKP and not on their own list, so they're not officially part of alliance and rather a support. There are a lot of examples for members of a party running from list of other party without having an official alliance. Therefore I'm not sure if HUDA PAR should be counted into People's Alliance. Leo0502 (talk) 09:18, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

were these ever polled though? Braganza (talk) 09:20, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Braganza @Leo0502 We should return HUDA PAR to the table and wait to see if they are included in future polls. If they are included, then we include them as simply adding their tally would be somewhat misleading. Whoever removed HUDA PAR should put it back. They should be in the People's Alliance too. Son OThe Desert (Talk) 11:52, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
yeah i agree, they are more or less affiliated with the alliance since 2018 Braganza (talk) 12:14, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'd wait for the polls first so we don't add and remove HUDA PAR column every few days. Btw if options like "AKP with HUDA PAR" will be present in polls, we can put them next to each other and merge two cells when needed. Leo0502 (talk) 13:10, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
could we make it as a note for the Peoples Alliance instead? Braganza (talk) 15:24, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Regardless of future polls, I disagree with removing parties or presidential candidates who have withdrawn. The point of an opionion polling table is to show relevant parties and candidates over time. That is why we don't just remove disbanded or banned parties either. --Gbuvn (talk) 16:02, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Gbuvn: I agree with you. This is also relevant on the page on polls for the presidential election: Erbakan was removed when he withdrew, so I reverted the removal, and now Perincek has been removed after he failed to get the required 100k signatures. This situation is similar to that. I don't think anything that should be removed. Son OThe Desert (Talk) 17:35, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
maybe we could make seperate polls for the campaign where all parties & candidates are known and the polls before this Braganza (talk) 17:38, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is already half-done in the presidential article, I have no objections to it. Son OThe Desert (Talk) 17:44, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
HUDA PAR was under "Others" in previous years so they're no really removed Leo0502 (talk) 20:36, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
i would prefer them as a note on Total Peoples Alliance than Others Braganza (talk) 18:09, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Something like this? "Includes votes of Free Cause Party. Votes of YRP have been included to the total votes of the People's Alliance starting from 24th of March 2023." We can keep HUDA PAR under "Others" so it's easier to calculate averages later. Leo0502 (talk) 11:14, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
yeah that is what i meant
but HÜDAPAR already supported Erdogan back in 2018 so i would rather include them from the start, they wanted to join back than but MHP vetoed them so i think we can say HÜDAPAR did unofficially join before March

Running on lists of other party - what to do with the table

[edit]

Looks like we have more parties deciding to run from lists of other parties. What should we do with the table then? (Of course I think we should wait for few polls before we decide, maybe one solution will be obviously better and we won't have to make decision on our own). For now, I suggest one of two solutions:

1. Reorder columns and merge cells in future polls e.g. if CHP-led list is mentioned (noting results for parties running separately are still possible).

2. Create new table with notes for CHP, AKP and YSP what other parties are running on their lists and combine results for each list even when parties are mentioned separately. Leo0502 (talk) 12:39, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

2 Braganza (talk) 14:18, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
2, though the change I made accordingly was reverted. CompoLUS (talk) 08:54, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So option number 2. I will re-revert it. Leo0502 (talk) 09:12, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Graphical Summary

[edit]

Akp seems to hit 40% in graphics, but last 15 polls are below 40s, how is this possible? Is graphical summary using different source than page? Oozkan48 (talk) 15:42, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Provincial ORC polls

[edit]

There are some provincial polls from April this year by ORC which could be added to the page. Its for the provinces of Erzincan, Denizli, Aydın, Bursa, Istanbul, Kocaeli and Sakarya.[1] Semsûrî (talk) 07:58, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
