Cherokee?
[edit]Which of her parents had Cherokee heritage, and from which community? I don't see any of these details in the sources, nor are any searches turning up Cherokee sources that mention her. - CorbieV ☊ ☼ 23:20, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
- The New York Times source states the tribe she descends from, but the other source doesn't get specific it just says she has Native American heritage.Mcelite (talk) 06:29, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
- NY Times statement seems sufficient. We rely on reliable sources to do their own fact-checking; there's no need to trace the genealogy ourselves. –dlthewave ☎ 18:54, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
- The NYT has quite often dropped the ball when it comes to fact-checking on self-identified Natives and descendants. They've done articles on actual Natives and made serious mistakes, and they've done articles that feature white people and never once checked their claims of tribal citizenship. There are bios they've done on African-Americans where they've gone into print with features on people with the wrong name. Sometimes I think they have fired all their fact checkers. And I don't think they've ever hired any Native ones. - CorbieV ☊ ☼ 03:51, 4 August 2019 (UTC)
