I've begun fixing up this page as it was pretty basic, and lacking in anything resembling technical information. The additions vaguely resemble the work I've done on the DragonFly BSD page.

The article is still a little light on information, and I will continue to address it.

In the future, once this page has been fleshed out a bit, the changes should probably be merged with the Apple_Darwin page in order to make them more consistent with each other.

In the near future, I will be bringing in relevant information from that page, and integrating it into this one.

Shouldn't the kernel/IO Kit/etc content go into Apple Darwin instead of this page? Being that the Apple Darwin is about the actual operating system and this page should just be about the OpenDarwin distribution. You wouldn't go into tons of detail on the Linux kernel in the Fedora Core page. AlistairMcMillan 14:56, August 10, 2005 (UTC)

Possibly, except that it is this (the OpenDarwin Project) where most of the non-Apple code contributers work, so it strikes me as less of a distribution per se, and more as an extention of Apple's project. I'd expect that the common informaion would fit equally well in both, each recieving their own specific tweaks. I'd like for the Apple Darwin page to have this information, but for right now, this page has more of my own attention. I did a little bit research on that. It turns out like a logically conspiratorial scheme from Apple. Back to 2002/2003, when opendarwin project just begun, people were actively discussing about interesting x86 branch of code. But Apple said in FAQ from their website as below:( today we know Apple lied:)

Q: Will Mac OS X be ported to the PC?
A: There are no plans to make Mac OS X available on any non-Apple platforms. We're simply making Darwin, the underlying operating system of Mac OS X, a better system by using x86 as a test bed to ensure architectural soundness and to reap the benefits from applying portable software coding practices.

Apple is lier, they prepare switch very earlier. The whole story looks like that apple used open source community and get benefits then dump them afterwards. Hi anonymous user at 87.11.3.26, at the time I was writing this, apple had not release kernel part of x86, do you even know which is kernel package in that list? though apple release bit by bit x86 key parts later but with altered APSL to make some kernel development work illegal. Additionally, you have not read my comments clearly, I mean apple is lier is because they lied when they talked about future release in x86 back to a couple of years ago.

Hexley logo

The logo has been deleted on Commons. This logo has been uploaded to Wikipedia before, but deleted due to duplication on Commons. If this logo were to be put back, it would have to be reuploaded under fair use instead (see the deletion log at Commons:Image:Hexley fork 450.png to know why). --Geopgeop 18:18, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

I believe this page should be deleted given that the project it concerns no longer exists.

Removed IRC Link

I've removed the IRC link to #OpenDarwin. This is not a vandalism :). The channel is basically defunct concerning the OpenDarwin project. It's basically just a bunch of friends engaging in casual chatter now and we generally refer folks to http://lists.apple.com Jgw 18:35, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Links to OpenDarwin.org

Why do we still have links to OpenDarwin.org? This occurs at the link to OpenDarwin's website, and References. What good is a reference if you can't access it? Webdog1000 21:26, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

There appear to be several wiki pages that mention opendarwin.org. Might be good to figure out which of those should be converted to links into the Wayback Machine, which into links to pages relocated to other sites, which to just saying "OpenDarwin", etc. DMacks 01:07, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
