This may have been around for a long time, but this product appears to be riddled with very old PHP programming practices, and a number of security flaws in plain sight (as a consequence). I don't know if that is something which needs to be highlighted on the front of this article. It might essentially do what it was designed to do, but I would not let it near any of my servers in its present form. There are better alternatives such as the Open Conference System https://pkp.sfu.ca/ocs/ - very well organised code, and many SAAS solutions. I can show examples of the obvious flaws in the software - the Open Source version at least - if required.

Wikipedia isn't the place to air one's opinions, or promote alternative solutions. If there was a significant controversy surrounding OpenConf evidenced in reliable sources, that was unquestionably relevant to the article, then it could be added. But it would have to be significant and relevant. Think of a particular type of airplane, say: if it was slammed because of technical problems, such that the manufacturer had to take major corrective steps, and this was splashed in the trade press, then that would be relevant; but if a few passengers grumbled that it was uncomfortable to fly in then that would not be relevant. andy (talk) 17:37, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
