Removing General American
I added General American to this page. This is the vowel that I use for the short u. Although I am from around New York, I technically speak with a General American accent. However, there are specific features of a New York accent that I have. For example, I do not have the father-bother merger. And I do not front the traditionally backed vowels. However, then I read on the "General American" page that, in most areas of the country, the /ʌ/ class is typically fronted. However, as it isn't in New York English, it is probably wisest that I change that entry to "New York English."
I also need help with an appropriate citation. Thank you.74.102.216.186 (talk) 02:04, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
- No, you didn't. You replaced it with "New York English", which is not acceptable because the General American entry was sourced. Reverted.
- As far as a citation for the New York accent is concerned, I can't help you. Mr KEBAB (talk) 10:40, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
I added General American a few months ago. Come to think of it, as I forgot to mention that, I can see why you would be frustrated. Sorry.74.102.216.186 (talk) 01:11, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
It is possible that I have confused this with another page. If so, I must apologize to everybody for the hassle. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.102.216.186 (talk) 01:48, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
