The tagged area 'Oostendam' is a new residential area of Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht in the province South-Holland. Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht is located close by the city Rotterdam (the second largest city in The Netherlands).
'Oostendam' is only the name of that specific neighborhood.
The new residential area Oostendam has nothing to do with dikes or anything like that.
The article mentioned the island IJsselmonde. The island IJsselmonde does NOT exists anymore!!!
Although the dense populated urban area IJsselmonde was originally an island, nothing can remind you of it’s origin. In fact: IJsselmonde is a district of Rotterdam-City and is located in the southern Rotterdam, like Feijenoord and Charlois.
Although Rotterdam is near Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, Oostendam is not related to Rotterdam or any parts of that city.
Yes, there is indeed a residential area of Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht called Oostendam. However, this article covers the village of Oostendam that belongs to the municipality of Ridderkerk, not Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht. Clld08:16, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
