World Peace
[edit]From the intro to the Sasaki subsection, I have deleted: "has become a symbol of world peace[citation needed]" since there has been no corroboration for years and since it's a vague, unsubstantiated statement anyway.

Weasel Words regarding Cancer Patients
[edit]I have re-removed part of a section that was removed a month ago. It stated cranes are given to cancer patients in the West "(usually when terminally ill)". The whole sentence is unsourced (but seems reasonable to me) though the part I removed is weasel words and uninformative. I can't find evidence stating that cranes would not be given to non-terminal cancer patients, and hence I don't see it as a pertinent statement. Dabizi (talk) 06:19, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

How is Senbazuru Pronounced?
[edit]how is Senbazuru pronounced there should be something in the article that makes this clear preferably a recording with someone pronouncing Senbazuru

- I'm hardly an expert on this, but from what I understand about the Latin letter version of Japanese it should be pronounced sɛnbɑːzuːruː, but I'm not sure about the "a". Zak Frost (talk) 09:43, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

History question
[edit]Could this article expand on the pre-war history of the thousand cranes? Did it become popular because of the girl at hiroshima, or was it already a widespread practice in Japan? when did it start? (ProfessorBaylock (talk) 21:30, 8 September 2011 (UTC)).
- I have no written source at hand, but senbazuru has been originally an offering to Shinto shrines. Try googing "千羽鶴 奉納 神社" (Senbazuru Offering Shrines). Aphaia (talk) 02:44, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
