Notability tag
[edit]I put a notabilty tag on the article. The problem is that the consortium are on the threshold of notabilty; if they accept the licence, they will be notable. At the moment, and speaking purely about Wikipedia notabilty critera to avoid any confusion, they are on the edge of notability. There are reliable sources to verify facts about the consortium, but if they don't accept the licence, then it would be hard to justify a separate article. If they refused the licence, and as the consortium only exists for this purpose alone, the content would be better served in a history section in the general DTT in Ireland article. It is something that might resolve itself within a few days, so I'll take the risk of just applying the notabilty tag and check back in a few days. FlowerpotmaN·(t) 20:20, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Indeed, this article may be effectively defunct within a fortnight if the consortium decide not to proceed with full negotiations. The article Boxer TV Ireland had been written as if Boxer and the BCI had already signed and sealed the contract, in fact nothing such had happened. Given the cuts at TV3 and Eircom and the speculation regarding Setanta's long-term funding, I would be surprised if they do eventually sign a contract. Rdd (talk) 13:11, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, what a difference a week makes.:) The Indo (9 May) are saying that the licence is more than likely going to be formally awarded to One Vision on Monday or Tuesday, so if that happens, then notability problems completely disappear. But the article still has to wait for sources, avoiding the problems that the Boxer article had. A Wikipedia article doesn't have to be completely up to date; better to avoid speculation (and there is a lot of that about off-wiki) and wait for the sources confirming what has happened. Secondary Sources
[edit]please note there are secondary sources on the page —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nua eire (talk • contribs) 12:48, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
New Channels
[edit]I cannot find a source for any of the new TV3 or RTÉ channels, I did read that both RTÉ and TV3 will not be rolling out any new services in the near future. The list of channels available on the PSB MUX seems unlikely given that RTÉ has no current plans for extra channels and the fact that there isn't enough space for a HD channel plus 5 extra SD channels even using MPEG 4. —Preceding unsigned comment added by IrishTV (talk • contribs) 14:38, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- Also I wonder why the Oirechtas channel is under funded it is currently available to all Ministers, TD, General sectaries and others in the government. It is currently just a case of providing the same feed to DTT. —Preceding unsigned comment added by IrishTV (talk • contribs) 16:19, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- The channels that will be available as free-to-air from RTÉ NL shouldn't be included here; the DTT in Ireland article and the RTÉ Network Limited articles are the best place for them. As for a proposed channel like RTE Three ; really, that's so far off in the future and so subject to change (if it ever happens, and that is a bit of an "if"), they shouldn't be included as proposed channels until something more solid is announced.
