April 2011 bombing
There has been a new bombing in Omagh ([1]), can anyone include this in the article? Or should this article be moved to Omagh bombing (1998) and a new article Omagh bombing (2011) created? Rchard2scout (talk) 19:34, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
- I think it could be added to this article. Let's wait and see what others think.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 06:41, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- People seem to forget that there were bombings all the time during the Troubles. Over 50 people were killed in and around Omagh. I don't see why this bombing should be included but not others. For those reasons I'd also oppose creating an article for it. ~Asarlaí 08:25, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- The reason I think it could be mentioned (no more than two sentences, mind with also inclusions of the earlier bombings and killings) is because the 1998 bombing was such a watershed event that subsequent attacks in the town are surely more notable than earlier ones back in the 1970s. Omagh was, as you say, a popular target due to its being a garrison town. I certainly don't feel a separate article is warranted and I staunchly oppose changing thos article's name to Omagh bombing (1998).--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 08:31, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- Asarlaí, "were" being the operative word. We are now in different times, and considering the circumstances of the 1998 attack, another in the area - especially one that resulted in death - cannot be seen as anything other than significant. Nick Cooper (talk) 11:17, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
