I have just expanded on this stub. I'm not sure the discussion I've written on dune types (3rd paragraph) is altogether appropriate here, but included it anyway. Any suggestions on are welcomeSchaffman (talk) 11:54, 9 September 2010 (UTC).
Gypsum in dunes
[edit]I am modifying this paragraph. The source of the gysum is unknown and may be hydrothermal in origin. The paragraph as written seems to imply large standing bodies of water were present, which may or may not be true. Schaffman (talk) 13:17, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
- Very cool photo of the gypsum dunes in the current Atlantic: [1], photo #14. I may track it down at HiRISE and add here. --Pete Tillman (talk) 05:37, 17 September 2016 (UTC)
Olympia Planum photo?
[edit]I noticed we have a copy of an Olympia Planum dune field photo identified as Olympia Undae. Are these synonyms, or just a mistake? Thanks, --Pete Tillman (talk) 05:35, 17 September 2016 (UTC)
