This is my attempt to begin to document the sailboats built in Santa Cruz, CA in the last 50 years. I have edited the Moore 24 page, but I was surprised to see that no entry existed for the Olson 30, Santa Cruz 27, Wilderness 21, etc. I encourage others to research some of the obvious omissions on this page, and to add other sailboats to Wikipedia that have added so much to the development of the sport of sailing.

It is my intention to interview the instigators of the boatbuilding industry in Santa Cruz, since most of the player are still in the area (and alive).

Logic on how to deal with builders and boat models

[edit]

I am not sure if it makes sense to have articles about specific boat models (like the Olson 30) or rather to have articles on their builders and entries on specific models. If you look at the Santa Cruz Yachts article, it's all about the builder and some history, but very light on details concerning the boat models.

Comments?

Chuck, creating a Pacific Yachts/George Olson page, and separate Olson 25, 911s, 40 pages would be a good idea. You'd be in the best position to do the George Olson page. I'll put the stubs in place. User:CSears —Preceding comment was added at 15:49, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Updates to Olson 30 page.

[edit]

Chuck, thank you for starting this page. I've made some additions to your framework, drawing on my experience racing and owning the boat for 7 years. There is some great history on George Olson and the boat, including the Olson 29, in various places such as olson30.org and sailpix archives, that might eventually make it here, too.
