Consider cutting...

The entire section describing the life and career of Morton should probably be removed as there is another article that does this: Oliver Hazard Perry Morton. I didn't feel comfortable completely removing it as there may be some information here that is not included in the other article and I didn't want important text to be lost if it could be used.
