[edit]I'm not entirely convinced the use of BFB wheels eliminates the need for balance weights. The BFB wheel provides better support for the tyre. Balance is a totally different matter. 7severn7 (talk) 08:36, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
Sleeve valves on the Pacifics?
[edit]No. The 'Leader' did have sleeve valves, but the Pacifics had more conventional piston valves. 86.178.185.233 (talk) 01:55, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
- True, have removed the offending words. --Redrose64 (talk) 14:47, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
Bulleid Way
[edit]Is Bulleid Way (near London Victoria station) named after Bulleid and if so is it worth putting in the article? Tombomp (talk/contribs) 20:45, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
- It almost certainly is; but we need a reliable source which explicitly states that. --Redrose64 (talk) 20:59, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
1Co-Co1 Diesels
[edit]Did Bulleid not have a role in the design of the BR(SR) 1Co-Co1 diesel locomotives (nos. 10201/2/3)? Barney Bruchstein (talk) 18:41, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
Period just before First World War
[edit]"During this time, he was able to travel widely in Europe, including a trip with Gresley, Stanier and Hawksworth, to Belgium, to see a metre-gauge bogie locomotive."
I guess the companions were Nigel Gresley, William Stanier and Frederick Hawksworth, but am I right? If so, I think additional and moved wikilinks are in order. Harfarhs (talk) 04:06, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
- It is difficult to imagine which other Gresley, Stainier, and Hawksworth the author could have meant. Pinkbeast (talk) 11:56, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
- Indeed it is difficult, but it would be bad practice to make the alteration on the strength of an assumption. Harfarhs (talk) 00:54, 26 January 2018 (UTC)
- Well, we do have WP:V and WP:NOR, however it's sourced to steamindex, which does occasionally refer to various people by surname only; I don't often invoke WP:IAR but in this case I have decided to apply it. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 11:50, 26 January 2018 (UTC)
