What does this mean? Is it true?

Great fire
[edit]Another wiki claims (without citation) the church was saved by a citizens brigade using wet blankets. Is this true? It would make a great detail to add if it is, but I couldn't verify it.--Skintigh (talk) 17:13, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
