Talk:Old Kaskaskia Village
Merger
[edit]It has been suggested that this article be merged with Grand Village of the Illinois. If this were to be done, what title should the merged aricle have?
(a) The U.S. Department of the Interior designation for the site is Old Kaskaskia Village.
(b) The Illinois Historic Preservation Agency's (IHPA's) designation for the site is Grand Village of the Illinois.
Ordinarily, the federal title would trump the state title, except that
(c) The state of Illinois, through the IHPA, owns most of the site in question, and would be the host if the site were ever opened to the pubilc (it is not open now), and
(d) The title Old Kaskaskia Village leads to confusion. A search using this title on a popular Web search engine produced a large number of links to another old Kaskaskia village, the former state capital of Illinois (Kaskaskia, Illinois) located in southern Illinois 300 miles away from the Grand Village of the Illinois.
Does anyone have any further comments? Bigturtle 14:23, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Merge - I think this should be merged into Grand Village of the Illinois, with this page set up as a redirect. That way we have all our bases covered.--Kranar drogin 23:01, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- Aargh. Yeah, it should be merged. The naming is no problem: keep the "Old Kaskaskia Village" name as the name in the NHL infobox (as that is the NHL name), but merge it and other material on the Old Kaskaskia Village page over to the Grand Village of the Illinois Page. doncram 00:44, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- I merged it over. doncram 21:48, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
