Trophy record comparison

Shouldn't there be a trophy record comparison, seeing as both sides have such a rich collection? IMO, it's pretty important in rivalry terms. 188.167.56.115 (talk) 23:49, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

I agree with it's importance to the rivalry, but how would you count it? all trophies including one-offs like the coronation cup or would you limit them to for example; SPL, Scottish Cup, League Cup & European trophies? --Connelly90[AlbaGuBràth] (talk) 13:19, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
i agree connelly, would probably just add to vandalism of the page aswell which has increased ten fold since the inclusion of the 'biggest wins' section.Monkeymanman (talk) 17:01, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

Rivalry and sectarianism

The last line of this section states "... journalist Franklin Foer noted that in the period from 1996 to 2003, eight deaths in Glasgow were directly linked to Old Firm matches, and hundreds and thousands of assaults." The meaning is unclear. Were there hundreds of assaults, were there thousands of assaults, or were there hundreds of thousands of assaults? Anyone have access to the referenced work? If so, would you be able to check, and make the relevant amendments? Thanks, Daicaregos (talk) 20:17, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

i have been trying to access the work online and have been unable. The organisation the previous line refers to i believe is Nil by Mouth but again am unsure due to there being no exact ref. It is undoubtable that old firm matches increase the number of assaults in the city, so perhaps the last line could be removed, leaving the previous to stand alone.(Monkeymanman (talk) 21:10, 1 June 2010 (UTC))

Recent changes

I've reverted back to the consensus version that was stable. I'm not averse to discussing and agreeing changes, but major changes need to be discussed here. Monkeymanman, if there are changes you would like to see, can you explain them? --hippo43 (talk) 17:04, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Multiple users reviewed the edits made and even discussed changes to improve them. Therefore there was consensus. Monkeymanman (talk) 18:09, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
Where? No discussion here, no consensus here. --hippo43 (talk) 01:16, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

IP changes on 3/5/11

Referring to this edit by IP. Problems are as follows.

  • First sentence: implies that appointing Lennon as manager is the cause of sectarianism. That makes it seem like it's Lennon's or Celtic's fault. Unacceptably WP:NPOV.
  • Second sentence: how can a package be violent? Dangerous, yes. Violent, no. Also, no other Celtic officials were sent packages - the other two intended recipients were a lawyer and a former MP who happen to be supporters.
  • Third sentence: all sorts of problems, not least of which is WP:OR and WP:V. The only part of this that would be OK to keep in is "the senders are anonymous".
  • Fourth sentence: factually and logically incorrect. The Old firm games this season have gone Rangers-Celtic-draw-Celtic-Celtic-Rangers-draw, so at no point has there been a series of losses for Celtic. Besides, how can you retaliate with a loss? It makes no sense. Second part seems NPOV, and incorrect use of "upon".

Anyway, reverted it. almightybob (pray) 10:02, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

William J Murray Reference

I'm quite sure that the link is to the wrong William J Murray. The current link is to a christian writer in the US. I believe the author who wrote books about Football is a Dr Willam J Murray who is based in Australia as an honourary research associate at LaTrobe University. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.174.131.3 (talk) 11:48, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

I think you are correct. I have delinked it and clarified by saying he is an author. Although it appears as if the man does not have a wikipedia page. Adam4267 (talk) 12:46, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
