Many believe that the Alton Bridge belongs to a demon named the 'Goatman' (the bridge is also commonly referred to as 'The Goatman's Bridge') whom is said to reside on the bridge, however after an encounter in 2017, to which the 'Goatman' did not retaliate, the bridge ownership has now rightfully shifted to Shane Madej and Ryan Bergara. So now it's called Shane and Ryans Bridge.Shyxnice (talk) 09:40, 23 July 2018 (UTC)

Shane and Ryan’s Bridge
Since Shane and Ryan DID challenge Goatman, the owner of the bridge, and Goatman DID fail to rise to the occasion, Shane and Ryan technically DO own the bridge. Why isn’t this relfected in the wiki? Crychanwastaken (talk) 23:56, 8 February 2019 (UTC)
- Because we don't report on pointless claims made in viral videos or on BuzzFeed or whatever it was. The article is protected and will remain protected until April because of these repeated claims. And it has been protected for most of the last 15 months because of these repeated claims. Stop wasting our time. Meters (talk) 05:03, 9 February 2019 (UTC)
I agree with the first person here. Shane and Ryan DID challenge the Goatman, and he ( Because he was a coward) did not claim his bridge, therefore the bridge is now Shane and Ryan's bridge. I don't know why no one accepts this!??!! Shane and Ryan are the rightful owners to the bridge and will be forever, unless the Goatman shows him self in order to challenge the boys for ownership of the bridge. until then, they own the bridge! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:5CE:301:D202:2D69:7CFE:D982:51E2 (talk) 23:43, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

- For the IP (and anyone else) who thinks my replies above were rude: we've had more than 50 attempts to add this to the article in the last two or so years. The article has been repeatedly protected because of this, and we've had 16 edit requests to add this information. It's not going in the article. So, yes, if you are asking us to add this claim you are wasting your time and ours. Meters (talk) 21:58, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
Shane & Ryan's Bridge.
I understand why you guys hate that so many of us Buzzfeed Unsolved Fans are messing with the Old Dalton Bridge Page, but I just want to suggest that you guys should at least reference it. All I ask if for you guys to let us add a little bit of trivia. I'm not trying to change the Bridge's name. I just want to add that While the Bridge does have an Official Name- it also is known as Shane & Ryan's bridge. I feel like that's justified because many people do in fact know it as Shane & Ryan's bridge. Just let us add that in the Buzzfeed Unsolved: Supernatural Season 3, episode 4 titled "The Demonic Goatman's Bridge" Shane Madej(& Ryan S. Bergara) challenged The Goatman to show himself if he failed to show himself he would lose rights to the bridge, & it would become Shane & Ryan's bride. It's just a small request. I hope you guys can accept it, & do this favor for us Shaniacs n' Boogaras. Thank you for your time Christian Pahua-Oros (talk) 20:37, 7 April 2019 (UTC)
- Again, as stated above by Meters, it's not going to be added in. What is already mentioned in the article about BuzzFeed Unsolved visiting the bridge is good enough for inclusion. Plus, per WP:TRIVIA, it states that trivial information should be avoided. – Braxton C. Womacktalk to me! 22:29, 7 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Christian Pahua-Oros: Once again, this is not going to be added into the article. Seriously, you're wasting mine and other editor's time with this. I've given you a valid explanation as to why this won't be included; this isn't Wikia! Also, you don't need to start another section when replying back to someone. – Braxton C. Womacktalk to me! 02:59, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
Shane & Ryan's Bridge part 2 .
That's not enough. It feels like you're just sweeping it under the rug. I donate to Wiki. I love this site. N to be given this half_a** excuse to why you don't want to add our little trivia- is not enough. All I'm asking for is for you to let us add just a bit of trivia to the page. Trivia that won't affect your life, but you're so against the Boogaras N' the Shaneiacs that you wont even give us that much. We just want our small piece of Notoriety. That which is well deserved for Shane A. Madej & Ryan S. Bregara. P.S. You should be ashamed. Christian Pahua-Oros (talk) 02:37, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
- Giving notoriety is not function of an encyclopedia. MB 02:55, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
Shane & Ryan's Bridge part 3.
I'm not asking for you or Wiki to give us notoriety. I'm asking you to let us show our notoriety. If Wiki doesn't do this it wouldn't have so many pages about celebrities or any notorious events. They would tell them "sorry." "This isn't the site for this kind of thing." "Go post that S**t on Famous Birthday.com." It honestly feels like you guys have some Animosity against Buzzfeed Unsolved Fans. Shame. Christian Pahua-Oros (talk) 03:08, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
- I can't speak for any of the other editors, but I have no animosity towards fans of Buzzfeed Unsolved. I don't know who is a fan, I don't care who is a fan, and I don't care that Shane and Ryan claim to own the bridge. If they had instead declared themselves the President and Vice President of the US because they had stood in front of the Whitehouse and claimed the positions, andTrump and Pence had not showed up to contest their claims I wouldn't put that in a Wikipedia article either.

"The bridge takes its name from the abandoned community of Alton, which between 1850 and 1856 was the seat of Denton County."
The hyperlink for Alton takes the reader to the wiki page for Alton which is an established city in Hidalgo County, Texas. The city of Alton referenced in this page doesn't exist anymore, but was in Denton County, near Corinth, and obviously, the Old Alton Bridge. Boadicea124 (talk) 19:47, 22 June 2019 (UTC)

I understand the reason for not wanting to change the name of this bridge to "Shane and Ryan's Bridge." However, I do feel the phenomenon is big enough to merit its own paragraph on the Wiki. It has gained enough traction to merit being here for those who may hear about it and not understand what it is all about, and also would potentially end people trying to come in and completely edit the page. Let me suggest the line below to be added:
This is worthy of putting in, as it is relevant and people to seek interest of doing this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SophieAnn03 (talk • contribs) 05:43, 28 September 2019 (UTC)
=== Buzzfeed Unsolved and "Shane and Ryan's Bridge" ===
On November 3, 2017, an episode of Buzzfeed Unsolved released an episode featuring Old Alton Bridge. In this episode, titled The Demonic Goatman's Bridge, Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej investigated claims that the bridge is haunted by a demonic figure known as the Goatman. During this episode, Shane taunts the Goatman stating if he doesn't show himself that the bridge would be known as Shane and Ryan's bridge moving forward. Seeing no demonic activity, Shane then declares the bridge as belonging to himself and Ryan. Following this, many Buzzfeed Unsolved fans began refering to the bridge only as "Shane and Ryan's Bridge" even attempting to repeatedly edit the Wikipedia to reflect this name. The number of attempted edits resulted in the protection of the Old Alton Bridge Wikipedia page from future edits.

- Not done. Most of what you're describing isn't in the source you give, and what is there is mostly trivia about the show that isn't worth putting in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Deacon Vorbis (talk • contribs) 15:29, August 8, 2019 (UTC)

Please make the BuzzFeed unsolved section a bit longer. I understand that you have made the page protected however that does not allow you to dictate what should be on it and what shouldn't. Freedom of speech exists for a reason and you are declining that right. And this is a CLEAN request so please, don't be mean and rude to people who want a separate BuzzFeed unsolved section. Just mentioning it " featured on BuzzFeed unsolved" is not enough 162.245.252.89 (talk) 23:28, 30 January 2020 (UTC)

That bridge is actually Shane and Ryans bridge. My source: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XEZfGlyLQnA Shane took the bridge from the goatman so it's his now. Howtheturntables135 (talk) 18:54, 17 June 2020 (UTC):

I think Old Alton Bridge should be changed to Shane's Bridge as it is what the people want and it is the reason why we cannot edit this page now let us have it be called Shane's Bridge and we will leave it and not edit it. 2A02:C7F:608E:CB00:FDAC:A8A2:4AD7:93F4 (talk) 11:24, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

The bridge is owned by Shane Madej and Ryan Bergara from Buzzfeed. They say this in the video where they visit the bridge themselves. Legally they don't own it, but in all of our hearts they do. Addyfm (talk) 15:56, 1 September 2020 (UTC)

change goatman to shane and ryan (hear me out)
when mentioning anything about 'goatman' please at least reference the historical overthrowing. On November 3, 2017 the hosts of the show Buzzfeed: Unsolved had fought and won the bridge from Goatman. This is a historical fact and the 'vandalism' is people who value the spread of this information! Would you still consider Columbia a part of Spain? No! This is not fans of the show trying to get Shane and Ryan on a wikipedia page, this is people who want to make sure generations to come do not neglect the historical events that followed one man dancing on a goatman named Steve's bridge. (If you just mention them once we'll leave you alone.) Source: The Demonic Goatman's Bridge on Buzzfeed Unsolved Network(7:50-9:20 and 17:40-21:36) Irlgoatman (talk) 19:43, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
