Request for update of content

[edit]

I updated some trivial updates of the content of this Wikipedia page, but since I am associated with the organization in question, I am using the Talk page to request that an editor update the remaining facts that need to be updated, in accordance with Wikipedia policy[1].

The changes I just made were objective facts that have changed since this stub was created. The reference is the university website[2]:

  1. The budget for Fiscal Year 2014 is 19.8 billion Japanese yen.
  2. The number of employees is 625.
  3. The number of faculty members is 50.
  4. The number of research units is 46.
  5. The "Established" date listed was for the Promotion Corporation that preceded the University, so I changed that to the establishment date of the university, 1 November 2011.
  6. I added the Facebook page link to "External Links". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tameshimaikeru (talkcontribs) 05:44, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please also make the following important change:

  1. The name of the organization is now "Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University". Please update the name of the page accordingly.

Tameshimaikeru (talk) 05:36, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I shall address these.
1. Wikipedia articles are titled after the most common name the subject has. In this case, while the official name of the organization is "Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University" it is still more commonly known as just "Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology".
2-6. This needs to be verified by reliable sources, just like all information added to Wikipedia.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 05:40, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I read the link to reliable sources, but the university itself is the most definitive source of information on the number of units, employees, etc., the date of establishment, and so on. How can I supply a more definitive or reliable source? We simply want Wikipedia to list the most current facts. Any advice is welcome.--Tameshimaikeru (talk) 06:01, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Accusations

[edit]

The "Harassment controversies" section that keeps getting added back by G nikiforov is not in keeping with the core content policies. This section contains accusations sourced to internal institution sites unavailable for verification. Also, most of this section is about an unrelated death that has no connection to the supposed harassment. Even if the latter incident is able to be reliably sourced, it is almost certainly of undue weight and thereby violates the neutral point of view policy. I have therefore removed them once again. To restore them at this point constitutes edit warring and I hope these can be discussed here. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 21:12, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I made it clear to the user that they will be blocked per WP:NOTTHERE if they continue.--Ymblanter (talk) 00:41, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the content which is not independently verifiable. The current revision is written in a neutral tone and is exclusively sourced from information published on the official OIST website.G nikiforov (talk) 16:14, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Even reliably-sourced this section about one event is larger than the entire rest of the article and is not neutral, as previously stated. How one accidental death of an employee has any notability at all is not clear. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 16:23, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It is also original research, as the user is trying to use Wikipedia for their issues with the university. I blocked them indef per wP:NOTTHERE--Ymblanter (talk) 00:19, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
