Spam. This is a vanity entry by new User:Shivian creator of this comic strip, who is linking it at various Wikipedia entries. --Wetman 05:09, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

If this is spam, then so is every article about a comic strip on this site, including Penny Arcade (comic) from which the exact template for the article format was taken. If you could please explain why THIS article is spam and the rest are not? Some others which you would then consider spam:

• Megatokyo
• Get_Your_War_On

or even

• Snail_Dust

actually by your "definition" most (if not all) in the Category:Web_comics are spam, huh?

Those are all neutral commentaries on the strips in question. This is a promotion by the author himself, in which the strip is deemed 'notable' and 'popular'. Hence, spam. Cavalorn 16:42, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Vanity and POV

Addressing the allegation of vanity upon the part of Shivian.

I think the article shows a lack vanity and keeps with the Wikipedia standards of non-POV writing and therefore should not be deleted. I do recommend that he not interfere with future versions and post to this discussion page to suggest things that should be added.

Readership

Boy_on_a_Stick_and_Slither doesn't appear to appear in print papers, nor Fetus-X, why does this create an issue on whether or not somthing deserves a article within Wikipedia? Is there a policy against it?

vanity

While the comic creator wrote the article, he has a large fan backing, including lzy and I. Shivian neither engages in vanity nor spam, but simply self promotes. Almost all web comic creators do, as do a good number of artists. Even presidents campaign- no one accuses them of spam when they buy a billboard. Leave it please, Rayne.

Following your logic, even a article based on something you are involved with would be self-promotional. I believe by having the comic's author start this page both allowed someone with explicit knowledge of the subject to write it (in other words would you rather a nuclear scientist to talk about fusion or your local clergyman?) and allowed images to be added (which would have otherwise been left out due to copyright conflict possibilities). I had originally intended to write this article myself but I am glad that Shivian did because he fully covered the subject manner did it faster than I currently have the time for.--Lzygenius 20:34, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

No. Being involved with something does not mean you are obliged to present it in a promotional manner. The problem with the article is not that it exists but that it is too concerned with how wonderful and clever the strip is. Not really neutral enough, in short. Edited to balance this out. Concepts for Devolpment

I know that I openly acknowladge the desire to stop direct editing and addition to the article itself - being it's creator. However, I feel that I can honestly present ideas here to help "get the ball rolling" with aditional sections with it. Some ideas I had were:

• History - a detailed history of the characters, their exploits, and story arcs
  • Stan's "boyfriends" (1-12) which died, how they died, etc
  • Speciality strips (9-11, etc)
  • Introduction of breasts, legs/feet, posable arms, zooms, backgrounds, color, greyscale
  • Additions of new characters (their first strips, etc)
• Characters
  • further detailed character bios and information (including, perhaps, the "first apperance" ideas noted above
• Locations
  • Locations both within the strip and outside of it, ie: the Jesus Fishery and when the characters visited the "Red States"
