Odzala National ParkOdzala-Kokoua National Park – There are some sources that use "Odzala National Park", but "Odzala-Kokoua National Park" is also used in secondary sourcing, and by African Parks, the nonprofit conservation organization managing the park.

Here is a link to the park's page on African Parks' website, and following are appearances of the name in news and journal sources: The Independent, Mongabay, The Guardian, Financial Times, etc. In terms of search engine results, searching "Odzala National Park" at Google yields 11,000 results, and searching "Odzala-Kokoua National Park" yields 18,400 results. "Odzala National Park" should redirect users to the "Odzala-Kokoua National Park" article.

Full disclosure: I am submitting this request on behalf of African Parks via the Wyss Foundation, and as part of my work at Beutler Ink. This is part of a series of requests to create and expand several Wikipedia articles related to African Parks, and the fourth move request, following the successful moves of the African Parks, Majete Wildlife Reserve, and Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve articles (see Talk:African Parks, Talk:Majete Wildlife Reserve, and Talk:Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve). You can learn more about this ongoing project here: User:Inkian Jason/African Parks. Thanks! Request to remove unsourced content

[edit]
Resolved

On behalf of African Parks via the Wyss Foundation, and as part of my work at Beutler Ink, I plan to make improvements to this Wikipedia article. Before publishing a draft for consideration, I'd like to start with a straightforward request to remove unsourced content. Currently, the entire "Location" and "Biodiversity" sections are unsourced. There are also odd sentences, such as the following: "In the open Marantaceae forests, the middle-sized trees are much less common than in a closed-canopy forest, sometimes giving one the impression of being an ant in a lawn, with trees so far apart that they are like a London park!." These sections should be removed.

My goal with this edit request is to clean the slate before suggesting possible content additions. I will not be editing the article directly, and seek volunteer help removing content appropriately. Hopefully we can then work together to replace bad content with a compliant and Wikipedia-appropriate overview of the park. Thanks. Inkian Jason (talk) 21:50, 21 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Indy beetle: Thank you for updating this article. I will be proposing some additional improvements in the near future. If you're interested, there is a discussion about updating the name of the park in the navigation template here, and the List of national parks in Africa article here. Thanks again. Expanded and updated draft

[edit]
Resolved

On behalf of African Parks via the Wyss Foundation, and as part of my work at Beutler Ink, I am submitting an expanded and updated draft of this article for community review. You can view my proposed draft here.

The current article is a minimal stub with just two inline citations. I've worked to create an accurate, neutral, and appropriately sourced overview of the park, including its history, wildlife, and tourism, similar to articles for other parks. I believe all the sources used to create the draft are suitable, and African Parks has provided feedback to ensure accuracy.

I seek uninvolved editors to review the draft for accuracy and neutrality, and hope they'll conclude that the proposed draft is a vast improvement over the existing stub. @Cwmhiraeth: You assisted with the Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve article, and even submitted a "Did you know" fact suggestion for the Main Page, so I'm wondering if you'd be interested in helping to implement this draft as well. If reviewing the draft in its entirety is too much to take on right now, I'm happy to discuss one section at a time.

This edit request is part of a series to create and expand several Wikipedia articles related to African Parks. You can learn more here: User:Inkian Jason/African Parks. Thank you. Inkian Jason (talk) 18:45, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have read your expanded draft and think it is satisfactory. It seems sufficiently neutral to me and where it refers to African Parks, it does so in a non-promotional manner. The only change I would suggest is the removal of "Polypore are also present". I can see from the source that the statement is correct, but the fungi involved are just the sort of fungi that break down fallen timber throughout the world. I will be happy to nominate this for DYK when it goes live. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:23, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Cwmhiraeth: Thank you for reviewing (and complimenting) the draft. I went ahead and removed the sentence, per your request. I do not edit articles directly because of my conflict of interest. Would you be willing to copy over the markup appropriately? Thanks again, and for offering to nominate a "DYK" fact once the draft is live. Inkian Jason (talk) 21:01, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I hope to do the move shortly. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 11:21, 16 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Cwmhiraeth: I noticed you've requested page mover rights. I'm not sure if your request is specifically for the purpose of moving this draft or not, but I think moving my user page over the existing article would require a history merge. Alternatively, I've seen other editors copy and paste markup from drafts over the existing article's markup. Either of these options would make sure that the original article's edit history would be kept, whereas moving the draft would mean that the original article's edit history would be lost (unless you know a way of doing that and keeping the history). So you know, I plan to redirect my user page to the existing article once the proposed content has been implemented appropriately. Thanks again for your help! Inkian Jason (talk) 18:21, 16 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Right, I have done what you suggested. I could not make out how to attribute you as being the creator of the draft, rather than me being named in the article's history. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 07:09, 18 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Cwmhiraeth: Thank you for your help. I believe this talk page and your edit summary are sufficient as far as attribution goes. I do have a few more article drafts I'll be sharing soon, if you're interested in working on other content about Africa's national parks. Either way, thanks again for reviewing and implementing this draft. I'll go ahead and redirect my user subpage to the live Wikipedia article. Inkian Jason (talk) 14:15, 19 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Cwmhiraeth: I'm sorry, but I have one more very minor request. I see "OdzalaNational Park" in the lead. Do you mind adding a space between "Odzala" and "National". I don't edit articles directly because of my conflict of interest. Thank you. Inkian Jason (talk) 16:16, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
