specs of obersalzburg

[edit]

this article is about a geographic location noted for it's high altitude, but the article says nothing about the elevation of the location. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.45.48.184 (talk) 11:01, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Zum Türken is still on Obersalzberg.

[edit]

As the title states, Hotel Zum Türken is still very much existing, hopefully for a long time to come. :-) --Kotu Kubin (talk) 21:28, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

error in Security Zones paragraph?

[edit]

I'm confused by the sentence: "It was presented to Hitler on his 50th birthday in 1939, he nevertheless seldom visited it, though he and his mistress Eva Braun spent much time at Obersalzberg." It says he seldom visited it and then immediately says that he and his mistress spent much time at it. What portion of the statement is correct? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sklettke (talkcontribs) 03:18, 19 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It was the Kehlsteinhaus, built at stupendous cost and presented to Hitler on his 50th birthday, that he disliked and seldom visited. The Berghof, his own house in the neighbourhood, he visited regularly up to July 1944. After the July 1944 bomb plot, the dictator's paranoia and his wish to keep on top of his army generals meant he never holidayed at the Obersalzberg again. Eisenhower became obsessed with the intelligence rumour of a 'Southern Redoubt' centred on the Obersalzberg where the Nazi leaders would supposedly stage their Gotterdammerung -- hence the massive RAF raid of 25 April 1945 and the considerable commitment of US ground troops to the area -- but no such plan actually existed. Pictures of buildings during the time of National Socialism

[edit]

I reorganised the pictures in a gallery and added a few of mine I shot during a visit in summer 2019. Hope it's ok. Raven63 (talk) 15:20, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Mountain Court

[edit]

"Berghof" does not mean "mountain court", but "mountain estate", "mountain farm".2A02:AA1:1617:634F:981D:87D3:B0D6:F29E (talk) 23:09, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

the Führer's autonomous area

[edit]

A Sperrgebiet is a restricted zone, not an "autonomous area".2A02:AA1:1617:634F:981D:87D3:B0D6:F29E (talk) 23:18, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
