Pictures?

[edit]

Hey y'all, this is Dan Spalding, OC '99. I was also all-OSCA Treasurer for a couple years. Would it be possible to put some coop photos on-line? And could anyone organize members to write wiki-pages about their coops? -Danspalding 19:07, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Dan. It's Neal Schindler, proud Fairkid alum and author of the Fairchild Co-op article, which someone has suggested be merged with the OSCA article. I think each co-op is distinctive enough to merit its own article, and I'd love to get some more info on Fairchild's history to improve my article. Re: pix, I don't have many but have posted one on the Fairchild article. Facebook is PACKED with photos. Ask Dana Kotler for Kosher Co-op photos, for example. Thanks! COPAO

[edit]

I appreciate your addition about COPAO, Torre; it's an important part of our current culture that I had left out. To my knowledge, however, you were not around when COPAO was formed. If you disagree, please write back. I would love to get this straight if in fact you believe you were integral to the formation of that subcommittee. Mitzy 01:35, 21 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

relative size of Oberlin Co-op

[edit]

Not to nitpick, but Neill-Wycik Co-operative College Incorporated (Toronto, Ontario) is the third largest student co-operative in North America with over 800 resident/members. unsigned by IP 128.100.240.238

OSCA's Fellowship?

[edit]

Doesn't OSCA also offer a fellowship of some kind, a scholar in residence program? I knew someone who I believe had such fellowship 15 or so years ago. --WikiFair1 16:37, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

- The Scholar in Residence program lasted only three years, 1987-88 to 1989-90. (Personal knowledge.) Dan ad nauseam (talk) 08:40, 7 February 2008 (UTC) (OC '90, OSCA Ed. Coord. 1989-90)[reply]

Merge OSCA article with Fairchild

[edit]

Fairchild Co-op was proposed for deletion on grounds of notability. However OSCA, of which it is a member, is notable (see http://news.google.co.uk/archivesearch?um=1&ned=uk&hl=en&q=Oberlin+Student+Coop&cf=all ). Therefore it makes sense to me that we include encyclopedic information about OSCA member co-ops at the OSCA article. Please discuss. --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 21:10, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Support -- the Fairchild article is quite short, and even if it were independently notable it would be sensible to merge the articles. Matchups 02:46, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, guys. The Fairchild article will be less short when I get my hands on more info about the co-op's history. Each co-op has such a distinctive personality and history that individual articles might be warranted. My two cents... Vonnenook (talk) 19:09, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Vonnenook, does the material that you await speak to its notability under the WP:CORP guidelines? If so I suggest you add it quickly, as someone could easily come along and get rid of it in a week or so. If not, I suggest we go ahead with the merge, and look forward to your additional information, which will undoubtedly improve the merged article. My experience has been that articles can always be de-merged later, when they become too long to be eligible to become featured articles. If the articles remain separate, it would be great if someone could write a summary of the Fairchild article for the OSCA article. --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 09:48, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hrothulf, point taken. Do you want to do the merge, or should I? Also, can we keep the Fairchild image? Vonnenook (talk) 18:23, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would be delighted if you do the merge, as you know much more about the topic than I do. --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 15:38, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Support -- Notability is an issue on its own. Capitalismojo (talk) 02:59, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've merged Fairchild Co-op into this article, preserving the majority of the article, with the exception of some links to personal accounts. Gobonobo T C 18:17, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
