I'm not sure how useful these would be, so I figured I'd link them here and upload as necessary. [1], [2], [3], or [4]. I like them all personally, §hepTalk 20:04, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Some were already uploaded there, I uploaded the rest. §hepTalk 04:55, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Title

[edit]

I think this page should be moved to its English name (Arles Obelisk) per WP:TITLE. Articles are supposed to be named in such a way as to be most recognizable by the English-speaking population, so a French title goes against that. More people will recognize "Arles Obelisk" than "Obélisque d'Arles." --Dudemanfellabra (talk) 19:45, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is not established what is the English name, if any for this site. There's no source, no usage given. This specific site was discussed in 2nd discussion thread at wt:HSITES. If there is Michelin guide or other source discussion of this as Obelisk of Arles or Arles Obelisk or something, then you can make a case, but that is not known, AFAIK. In the other direction, I think the infobox should show the "official" name, Obélisque d'Arles or whatever is the official name, and perhaps secondarily show an English translation.... :) doncram (talk) 20:47, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

infobox as WHS component

[edit]

Dudemanfellabra, i appreciate that you developed the historic sites infobox in general and its application to here. A quibble: I think the World Heritage Site treatment is a bit heavy, since this is not itself a WHS. It is only one component of a collection of monuments, apparently including the arena / small Roman coliseum of Arles. I appreciate it links to a parent article, but something more clear that this is itself not a WHS is needed. I don't know WHS terminology for anything like a NRHP "Contributing Property" however. doncram (talk) 20:51, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
