I see some major issues within this article. Mainly, I'm highly concerned over the amount of reference and citations in this article, considering there are only seven, plus an additional resource in the bibliography–that takes up two of the seven resources. After performing a simple Google search, I found quite a few results regarding the topic, and it seems this article could go threw a great deal of expansion; this option would definitely need to be performed before promoting this article to a 'Good Article' status.

Some problems I found
  1. There are currently three red-links within this article: "Welsh Methodist Association", "Carn Igli", and "Edwin Moss"; please remove them
    1. Actually according to WP:RED, there is nothing wrong with redlinks in there, particularly given that articles are likely to be made from them. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 07:15, 7 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  2. The 'History' section contains only one source, though it it used multiple times; I'm sure more can be found regarding the history of this song, especially more history from a secondary source
  3. De-capitalize the 'l' in 'Let the Negro' in the "Controversy" section
  4. Are there any pictures to include in this section? Almost every pre-1900 GA song on Wikipedia has at least one picture in it

So, please take care of my few suggestions, and deeply consider expanding this article. There must be more out there than this! Thank you; I will place on hold for seven days to allow for any changes (of expansion, of course). Cheers, Carbrera (talk) 23:48, 6 June 2016 (UTC).[reply]

I see there's been some activity lately in regards to expansion of the article. Please @PING me when you have finished–thanks. Carbrera (talk) 19:25, 9 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Carbrea: I believe i have included all that I can gain from the sources available. Most of the online refs on a search just feature the text. Nevertheless, I have included all sources I can find that give any other insight into the hymn. The issue is there isn't going to be much more around on a hymn that's been out of print for 50 years. I think we're just lucky that some group like westboro BC haven't picked it up because that is probably the only way that more recent online info would become available. I have added a pic and diversified the sources in history and I think this is ready for another look now. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 18:13, 13 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have just checked over the article for any errors, in which I found none. Thank you very much for expanding the article to its fullest potential, you have done an outstanding job. If you ever need me to review another article of yours, let me know. Thanks again! Cheers, Carbrera (talk) 20:45, 13 June 2016 (UTC).[reply]

Article Errors

[edit]

A book is incorrectly referenced as: Davis, Ebenezer (2007). American Scenes and Christian Slavery. Applewood Books.

This is a copy of an original published in 1849. The correct title gives this away: American Scenes and Christian Slavery - A Recent Tour of Four Thousand Miles in the United States. Also, the reference cited doesn't support the claim with regards to the UK.

Wiki linking the word "Negro" is superfluous. 86.148.159.55 (talk) 21:54, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
