Talk:O'Collins

Well, just to start off. I have to say I'm new to this.

I just wanted to make a comment regarding my family name. From what I've read I understand that the Ó Coileán were barons of the barony of Conello, which would be now part of modern-day counties Limerick and Tipperary. If I remember correctly, this was during the 11th Century but I can never find resources to substantiate this. Can anyone advise further?

To elaborate, my family have been in and around Tipperary Town for a few hundred years now so I understand that the sect of the Collins clan from which I am descended did not leave move very far from the origin of the cland in the Limerick area. I also notice that historical references to the clan refer very heavily to Michael Collins from Cork, where as I know for a fact that there still remains a large number of people in Limerick City and surrounding areas of the family name Collins.
