[edit]Technically, if this island is not covered by the special agreement appertaining to Svalbard, then it is not Norwegian territory. However, if the discoverer is, as media reports say, a UK citizen, then he owes allegiance under present UK laws to the Crown, and therefore it can be classed, under this jurisdiction as UK territory. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the British Isles expanded by adding this new island to the group! It would be the first time it has done so since admiting Rockall in 1955.YourPTR! 11:43, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
