Dubious
[edit]The etymology of the "Shlotburg" as "Lock-Town" seems dubious. Cf. ru:Ниеншанц#Шлотбург. —Zalktis (talk) 08:21, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
Schantz
[edit]Schantz is a version of Schanze, German for redoubt, bastion or temporary fieldwork. The question is, why was a German term used in the name of a Swedish settlement when the Swedish skans (bastion), as in Nyenskans, was available? Sca (talk) 21:09, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
