Created by Emperork (talk). Self-nominated at 15:09, 23 September 2019 (UTC).
- New enough, long enough, neutrally written, well referenced. There is close paraphrasing from one source; please rewrite it in your own words or put it in quotes:
- Source: the petition for the declaration of nullity and issuance of 72-hour temporary restraining order and/or Writ of Preliminary Injunction against the project.
- Article: a petition for the declaration of nullity and issuance of 72-hour TRO and/or writ of preliminary injunction against the project filed by then city councilors
- The hooks are statements of fact, not hooks. Why not start with the fact,
... that Isla dela Victoria, a ₱25 billion-integrated resort and casino facility currently under construction in Kawit Island, Cebu City, Philippines,
and then add a hooky fact? (You could delete the word "currently" to save characters.) Image in article is fair use. No QPQ needed for nominator with less than 5 DYK credits. Yoninah (talk) 22:02, 25 September 2019 (UTC)
- You could also pipe the link this way:
- ... that a ₱25 billion integrated resort and casino under construction in Kawit Island, Cebu City, Philippines ... Yoninah (talk) 22:07, 25 September 2019 (UTC)
- I would also suggest that the article be given a copy-edit as right now it can be difficult to read. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 01:13, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- Per Yoninah's recommendation, I already revised the text on the article so that it would not be much in verbatim with the source. Added 1 alt hook, not sure if this would be interesting enough. — Emperork (talk) 15:52, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- I went over the whole article, editing and reducing overlinking. I also tagged the article for excessive and extraneous detail; that expansion that you did on 24 September in the History section reads like a transcript of a City Council meeting. All the back and forth could be summarized in one or two paragraphs. Also be aware that neutrality must be maintained at all times. Since the page is purportedly about the resort project, please focus on that. Yoninah (talk) 21:19, 26 September 2019 (UTC)

- As the nomination has been open since last month and it appears that there has been no action in weeks, a copyedit may be needed for the nomination to move forward. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 12:54, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
- I've requested a copyedit over at WP:GOCE/R; reviews can proceed once that has been completed. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 23:56, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
- The copyedit has been completed, and the copyeditor Baffle gab1978 left me a talk page message recommending that the nomination be failed. Pinging the reviewer Yoninah to give this another look. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 23:20, 25 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Narutolovehinata5: I went ahead and removed all the local political bickering. What's left is a description of the project and a short history of how they signed the joint venture agreement. The article is definitely start-class now. It just needs a new hook; I have struck all the previous ones for lack of hook interest. ALT2 has potential, but this fact is not mentioned in the article. Pinging the nominator again. Yoninah (talk) 22:39, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Yoninah! Re: the investment amount, it was originally pegged at PHP 18 billion as linked in the second article but was increased to PHP 25 billion upon the change of the local government administration. Or can it be revised to reflect the increase of investment? — Emperork (talk) 13:32, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Emperork: yes, you can add the increase to PHP 25 billion to the History section. What about a new hook? Yoninah (talk) 21:50, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
- The increase of investment was already included however not in the history section but the later developments section. New hook can be: ALT2.1:
... that Filipino billionaire John Gokongwei increased his investment from ₱18 billion to ₱25 billion on a planned integrated resort and casino facility in Kawit Island, Cebu City, Philippines dubbed as Isla dela Victoria?— Emperork (talk) 15:16, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
- Unfortunately I do not think that ALT2.1 has broad appeal to non-Filipino audiences. Perhaps a new direction is needed? Pinging RebeccaGreen, maybe she can help us here as she's been quite helpful in finding hooks. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 01:10, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, Narutolovehinata5 and Emperork. The only thing I can suggest is a hook about the origin of the name, something like:
- ALT3:
... that the new Isla dela Victoria resort and casino in Kawit Island, Cebu City, Philippines, is named after a city officer killed for his role in the fight against illegal fishing?(178 characters)
- ALT3:
- I have added a source about his murder, as the source that was in the article didn't say that he was murdered - and added the reason he was killed as well. So the source for this hook is "Osmeña said he suggested to the developer to name the development Isla dela Victoria, in honor of the late Elpidio “Jojo” dela Victoria, the Cebu City Bantay Dagat project director who was shot dead in 2006 in his determination against illegal fishing." [1]. RebeccaGreen (talk) 09:56, 5 November 2019 (UTC)

- That hook is fine with me since it does highlight the reason of the naming of the said place. I'm good with this. Thanks RebeccaGreen! — Emperork (talk) 14:54, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
- Pinging reviewer Yoninah to check ALT3. Thanks! BlueMoonset (talk) 15:56, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you, RebeccaGreen, for salvaging another nomination. ALT3 hook ref verified and cited inline. However, the resort is not open yet, so I would write it this way:
- ALT3a: ... that the Isla dela Victoria resort and casino under construction in Kawit Island, Cebu City, Philippines, is named for a city officer murdered for his role in the fight against illegal fishing?
- Rest of review above. ALT3a good to go. Yoninah (talk) 23:28, 5 November 2019 (UTC)

While this prompted Osmeña and his allies in the city council to revive Gabuya's resolution, city councilor Jose Daluz III disagreed, pointing out that their house rules only allow members of the city council who voted against the resolution to reintroduce it, requiring an approval of two-thirds vote.[1][2][3]
