This article is overly reliant on the works of Hughes who focuses on racket sports in London. There is earlier work in basketball as early as the 1930's[1] that predates the development of notational analysis provided in this article.
The article states that "The 1980s and 1990s saw researchers struggling to harness the developing technology", however Donald Knuth[2][3] was performing computerized analysis of players as manager of his university basketball team back in the late 1950's (although wasn't influential in sport). --Anjsimmo (talk) 10:34, 26 September 2018 (UTC)
