If it's not a Macropus, then what is it?
[edit]Conspicuous by its absence from the article is the etymology of Notamacropus. Where did the Nota- prefix come from? Damian Yerrick (talk) 14:04, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
- Added to article - see linked paper where the genus (originally subgenus) was first defined. To quote the authors directly, "Etymology. Nota from the Latin for stripe, a reference to the distinct facial stripe which is usually present in living members of this subgenus, and Macropus signifying their phylogenetic relationship to other kangaroos."
