[edit]Article created, talk page created. Thoughts on revising the article?
cannot make up its mind
[edit]this article does not seem to know whether this is a neighborhood or village or maybe something else entirely. And it lacks any references for any of the content of the article. This is not so helpful. Hmains (talk) 18:19, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
- In urban parts of New England, the terms village and neighborhood are interchangeable and refer to a section of a town (or city) that is named differently from the town or city. --Polaron | Talk 21:41, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
- All this may be true, but it is only article content that governs category structure and these poorly written/sourced articles are of little help. If 'village and neighborhood
are interchangeable' or maybe just based on local name and not what the physical area actually is legally, then the categories are useless--and wrong. Also, I notice that for New Hampshire, everyone must have given up on the situation and just listed all villages, areas, etc etc as being 'unincorported areas', not trying to divvy them up by village or not. Maybe this is good for all such New England states. Certainly, just adding the word 'village' to an article and then categorizing them as a village is not based on any citable reference and according to WP rules is reversable/deletable on sight, with a demand that a citation be provided. - The vast majority of New England village/neighborhood articles do not source the statement that so and so is a village or neighborhood. It's doable in principle but anything that is not a town/city is by definition a village/neighborhood and the creators of these village articles are likely from the New England region so they don't think that stating that something is a village needs citing since it is easy to check if it is a town/city or not and if it is not then it is a village/neighborhood. --Polaron | Talk 16:16, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
- Writers should not be writing for themselves, but for readers who know nothing of the subject until they start reading the WP article and its links. Hmains (talk) 23:54, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
