Infobox Islands template for possible use in article
[edit]Here is an Infobox Islands for use in this article:
Geography | |
---|---|
Location | Norwalk and Westport |
Coordinates | 41°3′54″N 73°23′24″W / 41.06500°N 73.39000°W |
Archipelago | Norwalk Islands |

It is similar to the one used in Thimble Islands. I did not leave it in the article yet since it interferes with the images already on the page. I thought by posting it here on the discussion page someone might want to copy it into the article and alter the layout to suit their taste. I have not (yet) experimented with putting one of the images from the article into this infobox, but that might help too. (in the Thimble article a navigation chart excerpt is used in the image = entry of the Infobox Islands template there). 67.86.73.252 (talk) 00:55, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- The infobox is a great idea. I had taken the pictures and added them to the article, but there's nothing special about them (I added them because I thought they were better than nothing). I moved the infobox to the article but the caption for the picture is blocked for some reason. Better pictures would give a better sense of what the islands look like. - Thanks for adding the template to the article. I too see the "missing caption" problem on this and several other island articles including British Isles. I used "view source" in my browser and noted that the image bit is presented in an html table entry with tags around the rendered caption which seems to make it almost invisible. I suspect that the sub tags should be removed from the template, but I am not bold enough to do that myself (not without consultation and consensus). As a workaround I found that using an image caption entry with close and open tags (e.g. "image caption = Tavern Island, with Ram Island behind it to the right") can allow for the display of the caption (as visible here on the Talk page now) but if the template is fixed to remove the sub tags then this workaround will likely be rendered unhelpful. Hence I have left the workaround out of the article with the expectation that the fix will be applied to the template soon. 67.86.73.252 (talk) 23:33, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Here is another possible explanation: the author of the template might have want to use <small></small> tags to enclose the image caption entry. On the right is an example using those tags and I note that the caption is well rendered and does not have a line break. 67.86.73.252 (talk) 00:40, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
