Academics section

Does anyone else find the Academics section to be long and unnecessary? I think it could be their, but don't put all of the degrees people can earn from the University... especially when it is unsourced! I think that either it should be removed, or replaced with a smaller section that briefly describes the "schools" or "colleges" within the University. I just want to know what others think as well. Notable alumni and faculty

Hi. Your NSU alumni list has gotten to the point that you need to split it off into its own article. See the following colleges as examples. Corkythehornetfan (talk) 12:59, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Significance of "Fork 'Em" at NSU?

Can someone familiar with the university confirm or deny the truth of the following: "Fork 'em is a hand gesture and greeting used by students at Northwestern State University in their celebration of sports teams. It is done in identical fashion to the The University of Texas Hook 'em Horns sign." If so, please merge into existing article if it is of any significance. Otherwise... well, don't :) (Google and various NSU sites seem to support the theory, but I'd rather an actual student/alumni provide insight.) Thank you. Seqsea (talk) 03:52, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

Alum here - that description is accurate. obo 03:08, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
Alum - I agree with Obo. ~~Rob
I would drop "and greeting." I am an alumni and worked at NSU for many years, and I never saw this. But, I only attended a couple of sporting events. I think it may be true at sporting events, but people don't go around just making a "fork 'em" gesture at each other the way they do at UT. Richard Manion 15:41, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Another Alum-The hand gesture is used at all sporting events. The chant "Fork 'em Demons, fork 'em." has been used for decades. The pitchfork, you see, is the Demon's tool! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.89.45.77 (talk) 23:27, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
