Clean-up
[edit]The former version needed a lot of work, particularly the first para:
The Government of the Northern Territory of Australia is a unicameral parliament, which dates from 1947, where there is only one house the Legislative Assembly which was granted in 1987, after the Legislative Council was abolished in 1973. Since 1911, the Northern Territory a territory of the Commonwealth of Australia.
- No, the government is the Ministry, which is accountable to the Assembly.
- There was no mention of the fact that there is a Ministry as well as an Assembly, who or what process decides who the ministers are, etc. Readers would have been entitled to ask "who's this Chief Minister that's suddenly been mentioned out of the blue? Where does he fit into the picture?"
- A unicameral parliament normally means "there is only one house"
- The assembly wasn't "granted", self-government was granted, and it was 1978, not 1987
- The abolition of the Legislative Council relates to why there's only one house now, nothing to do with government of the territory per se. That information belongs, in any event, in the Legislative Assembly article, not here. As does the timeline of the Legislative Assembly.
- The Legislative Assembly does not consist solely of the Crown. I think the members might reckon they have some part to play too. What I think was meant was "The Parliament consists of the Crown and the Legislative Assembly".
- There's more cleaning up to do, but I've made a start. I modelled the changes on Australian Capital Territory#Governance.

Government of the Northern Territory → Northern Territory Government – The Northern Territory Government operates only under the name Northern Territory Government, as demonstrated on the territory website (WP:OFFICIALNAME/WP:COMMONNAME). It is also called the Northern Territory Government in legislation: Northern Territory Government and Public Authorities' Superannuation Scheme Rules 1986 ((WP:NCGAL). This is part of a series of moves that has already seen Australian Government and Queensland Government being moved, as well as what is likely to be Victoria State Government and New Zealand Government.
