Oppose splitting off of Virginia service, NHV-SPG service
This article is on Amtrak's Regional. It should cover the entire service, all endpoints to all endpoints. --CComMack 02:40, 25 November 2005 (UTC)
Name Change
Are we absolutely sure about the name change or could it just be a clarification in the timetable? While it is in the timetable, the Amtrak website doesn't make any mention of the new name and there has not been a press release. --69.123.112.18 (talk) 21:31, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
- There are no other trains anywhere in the Amtrak system. There's nothing to clarify. A lot of things will probably still refer to the train as simply a Regional, but it seems the official name is now Northeast Regional. I don't think any press release has to be made about such a small name change either. Murjax (talk) 21:41, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Expanded service to Lynchburg, VA

Connections to Washington Metro Rail Service
The route map in the box on right side of page should add the appropriate icon at the New Carrollton, MD",Washington, DC, and Alexandria, VA stations. Bad style, grammar, and usage
Someone with an IP address tried to re-write this article with very bad style, grammar, and usage. This article is now much more difficult to read with the run-on sentences, frequent use of parentheses, and irrelevant factoids. Infobox image
I just discovered that the infobox image, File:Amtrak Regional viewed from NJ Transit train.jpg, was of the train as the Regional (and from 2005) and though a well-framed shot should probably be replaced. I've chosen File:Northeast Regional 152 (12384532733).jpg for the time being; it includes the new ACS-64 and matches the infobox color scheme nicely. However, I'd like thoughts from others (@Mackensen:, you were the one who originally added the previous image). Some other nice shots on Commons are:

- I would say that an "ideal" infobox image would tick the following boxes:
- ACS-64 (replacing the HHP-8s and AEM-7s)
- "Action shot" (not in a station)
- Amfleets (not replacement equipment)
- Bright, sunny day
- Pleasant background (either a fall color shot or plants in bloom)
- We have 1-3 in the current selection. The previous shot ticked 2-5, and is still a representative shot despite being from 2005 and thus before the great renaming. I think this one will do for the moment until someone takes an image that ticks 4-5. Mackensen (talk) 21:16, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
Article title
For users worldwide not famil. with the U.S., let alone trains, coming upon an article whose title is italicized, without an additional term of explication, like this one's, is baffling. The italicization obviously means it's a proper name. But of what? A prep school? A weather system? A novel? And if any of those existed, and became the subject of a Wiki article, you wouldn't want it to claim priority and be called, simply, Northeast Regional.
As well, it is inconsistent with style established by Wiki articles “Montrealer (train)”, “Vermonter (train)”, yadda yadda. So add “(rail service)” or whatever—unitalicized—to title.

Discussion about the Northeast Regional qualifying as high-speed or higher-speed

Terminal in Richmond
The page for Richmond Staples Mill Road indicates that one of the five Northeast Regional round trips terminate at the station, rather than continuing on to Norfolk or Newport News. However, in the past at South Station, I've noticed that the 'Amtrak Arrivals' section of the announcement board notes Richmond Main Street as the origin of trains arriving in Boston that originate at Richmond (I will provide a picture next time I see this, if need be). I have difficulty understanding Virginia service as it appears on Amtrak's Northeast Corridor schedules as it does not seem the most clear to me, so I'm not entirely sure if Richmond trains terminate at Staples Mill & Originate at Main Street, and it would be nice to have clarification in case South Station's train board arrivals are incorrect. - As of pre-COVID schedules, the only service to Main Street is on the two daily Newport News round trips (174/194/96 and 66 northbound, 65/67 and 99/125 southbound); no service terminates at Main Street. Staples Mill is an intermediate stop for the two Newport News round trips and the 1-2 Norfolk round trips (2 on weekdays, 1 on weekends, plus a Sunday night southbound), plus the Carolinian, Palmetto, Silver Meteor, and Silver Star. One daily round trip (85/195 southbound, 86/164 northbound plus a Saturday northbound) terminates at Staples Mill.
- So tl;dr: no, the board should not say Main Street for any arrivals or departures. (As of 2017, it definitely correctly said "Richmond, VA - Staples".) Pi.1415926535 (talk) 20:09, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you. It appears that the sign was displaying the arrival's origin station incorrectly, then (as seen in this photo I took this morning where it says "Richmond Main St"). I'll see if I can get in touch w/ someone about said error. Pokemonred200 (talk) 14:33, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
- Given it is train 174 in this photo that the board states is originating at Main Street (I hadn't looked at specific train numbers in past visit) and this is a Northbound Newport News trip, maybe it's listing Main Street as the origin for Newport News arrivals?
